Please take our online survey -- your opinion matters to us!

Minooka CCSD 201 thanks you for completing this survey. It should take five to ten
minutes.

Your opinions are important as we move forward in our long range facility planning process. All responses will be tabulated by an independent consulting firm and remain
totally anonymous. We will share results as they are made available to us.

1. Students are often given the grades A, B, C, D, and F to score the quality of their academic work. What grade would you give to Minooka Community Consolidated School District (CCSD) 201?
2. Minooka CCSD 201 is considering a bond proposal for approximately $62 million to support construction of a new Grade 5-8 school in Shorewood and provide renovations to the existing junior high in Minooka. While no final decision has been made, if a $62 million bond proposal is placed on the ballot for building improvement, is this something you . . .
3. Passing this proposal would increase property taxes, on a $200,000 market value house, about $285 a year or $5.48 per week. Knowing this, is this something you . . .
4. Below are some statements that people might make about public education. For each, indicate if you strongly agree, somewhat agree, somewhat disagree or strongly disagree.
strongly agree   somewhat agree   somewhat disagree   strongly disagree   other, don't know
We get an excellent educational value for the taxes we pay to our school district.
People like me can’t afford to pay higher property taxes, no matter how good the cause.
Supporting public schools is the best thing we can do to protect the investment we’ve made in our homes.
Our schools are fine just the way they are. Nothing needs to be done beyond normal maintenance and repairs.
I’m willing to support a bond proposal to make sure the quality of our school measures up to that of other districts in our area.
The quality of our public schools is the most important factor regarding property values in our area.
It is important to our community to keep our schools up-to-date and in good working condition.
We must take steps to address overcrowded classrooms in our grades 5-8 classrooms.
5. Minooka CCSD is considering construction of a new junior high school in Shorewood to alleviate overcrowded conditions at the district’s junior high and intermediate school in Minooka. How much need do you think there is for this new junior high school building. Is this . . .
6. Listed below are improvements being considered for the existing junior high in Minooka to enable it to be functionally equivalent to a Grade 5-8 in Shorewood currently under consideration. Please rate each on a seven-point scale. On this scale a “7” means a very HIGH priority — a “1” means a very LOW priority. Of course you can use any number between 7 (HIGH) and 1 (LOW).
  7   6   5   4   3   2   1
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) classrooms and labs.
  Expanded and improved cafeteria
Classroom modifications to accommodate best practices in instructional methods
  Improved spaces for art instruction
  Gym and fitness center improvements
Media center improvements including collaborative learning spaces
Improved instructional spaces for kids with special needs
7. Next are some facts regarding crowding conditions at Minooka junior high and intermediate buildings. For each, indicate if you think addressing that condition makes you
much more inclined to support a proposal   somewhat more inclined to support a bond proposal   somewhat less inclined to support a proposal   much less inclined to support a proposal
Between classes, there are times that hallways are so crowded that students can’t get to class on time
Some teachers don’t have permanent classrooms and must keep their materials on carts going from one classroom to another
Because it is so small, cafeteria shifts at the junior high starts at 9:33 a.m.
Buildings are so crowded that it makes implementation of best practices in safety and security difficult
Access to participation in extracurriculars like sports and music is limited
Classrooms are overcrowded making it difficult for teachers to implement best practices in education including small group learning projects
Instructional for many essential instructional programs is held in inappropriate spaces like hallways or offices
8. Next are some statements people might make about a possible bond proposal for facility improvements. For each, indicate if you strongly agree, agree, disagree or strongly disagree with the statement.
strongly agree   somewhat agree   somewhat disagree   strongly disagree   other, don't know
Our schools are a source of pride for our community — we must keep them in good condition.
Investing in improved school buildings now will benefit many future generations of students and homeowners.
Our schools are fine the way they are. These improvements are simply not needed.
To keep our property values strong, we need to keep up with neighboring districts when it comes to quality school facilities.
The first school in our community was built before Minooka became a village in 1852. People then knew that schools come first when it comes to quality of life.
This year, there is a renewed state program to provide matching dollars for school construction projects.  If we don’t pass a bond proposal, we will be unable to provide local funds for our share of the match and that money will go elsewhere.
Three times a proposal like this has lost at the polls. The district should not ask a fourth time.
This proposal is better than the one on the ballot last April because it makes needed improvements to the existing junior high.
9. As mentioned earlier, Minooka CCSD 201 is considering a bond proposal for approximately $62 million to support construction of new Grade 5-8 school in Shorewood and provide renovations to the existing junior high in Minooka. While no final decision has been made, if a $62 million bond proposal is placed on the ballot for building improvement, is this something you . . .
10. If this proposal would not increase the property tax rate, is this something you . . .
11. Even though the tax rate could remain the same, the total cost of financing would increase resulting from a backloading of the debt. Knowing this, do you still favor or oppose this bond proposal?
The last few questions are for classification purposes.
12. In which of the following age groups do you fall within?
13. Do you have children or grandchildren who are 18 years of age or younger?
14. Children or grandchildren
15. In what county do you live?
16. Are you . . .

Thank you! That completes our survey. We greatly appreciate your time.
